Study facilities at the PUT

Libraries


The Main Library of PUT is the largest library of Science and Engineering in Wielkopolska Region, containing almost 600.000 volumes of books and journals, including 2000 titles of scientific journals. The collection profile is related to specialization offered by the University and is compatible with the needs of staff and students. The library system consists of a Main Library and 20 different Institute Libraries. Supervision of the system is performed by the Director of the Main Library together with the Library Committee.

The Main Library has three Reading Rooms: General Reading Room, Newspaper Room, Division of Scientific Information, a Lending Section and an Inter-Library Lending section as well as a CD-ROM and Internet facilities stand. A computerized catalogue of journals is at present being compiled.

The Main Library offers two computer units with bibliographic databases with the abstracts on CD-ROMs and floppy discs: the Polish current national bibliography and the foreign bases-INSPEC, ICONDA, ISMEC, ENVIRONMENT ABSTRACTS, CURRENT CONTENTS.

Since May 1997, the Library has had access to databases in network version situated in Poznan’s Super-computer Network Centre.

Specialist facilities



Foreign Language Teaching

All students have a possibility to study modern languages at the Department of Foreign Languages at PUT. The Department runs courses of English, French, German and Russian.

There is a Polish course for foreigners. Information is provided on the web pages and boards on the third floor in the building of Electrical Faculty.

Sports Facilities and Clubs



The Department of Physical Training and Sports runs classes for PUT students in the disciplines: basketball, volleyball, table tennis, aerobics, athletics, cycling, skiing, swimming, football and jogging. An integral part of the Department is the Sports Centre of PUT and the Volleyball Club “Politechnika”. The Sports Centre of PUT is a compact complex building with a large gymnasium, fitness hall, table tennis hall and well-equipped social units, which are available to students and to University staff.

Computer Facilities


Each faculty has its own computer facility within the main building. These computers are for the use of the students. Each student has a possibility to have an e- mail address.
