Student conference at Zittau

From 28 of May to 01 of June 2018, a delegation of the Poznan University of Technology (composed of Dominika Adamiak (WIZ), Amad Sami Hasan (WIZ) and Bohdan Titarenko (WBM)) took part in an international student conference organized by the Baltic University Program held in Großschönau near Zittau in Germany.

The theme of this year's conference was "Innovation for Sustainable Development: Resource and Energy Efficiency in Production and Transportation". The conference was attended by over 80 students from 13 different countries (Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Iraq). Even before the conference, all participants were divided into teams, each of whom had to prepare a poster and presentation on the subject given to the organizers. The Polish national team created a presentation on electromobility in Poland.

The first day of the conference was devoted to the first lectures of university professors from Zittau and Uppsala as well as presentations of individual bands' posters. On the second day of the conference, a trip to the University of Applied Sciences Zittau / Goerlitz campus took place, where further speeches by professors from Zittau, the mayor of Zittau and employees of the IPM Institute took place. In the afternoon, a tour of the village of Zittau took place. The third day of the conference was devoted to further presentations, including professor from Coventry (UK) and from Bolivia. Then there was a discussion and work in groups (all students were divided into smaller, international teams, each team had to develop a different problem). In the afternoon there was a culinary competition, in which students were to prepare in the groups in which they were assigned to the houses traditional dishes from the countries from which they came. The team where Dominika was preparing the apple pie and took the 2nd place. On the fourth day of the conference, a trip to Dresden took place, where a trip to the Volkswagen factory producing e-Golfs and a trip to the Museum of Transport in Dresden took place. In the afternoon, students had time to explore Dresden. On the fifth day of the conference, it was a summary, presentation of the effects of working in groups and distribution of certificates.
