A grant from the National Science Center

A grant from the National Science Center "Analytical processing and mining of sequential data: models, algorithms, and data structures" offers a 3-years doctoral scholarship of 3000 PLN/month. Estimated time of starting the grant: 17 Oct, 2016. The grant will be realized in the Institute of Computing Science at Poznan University of Technology (Poznan, Poland).

European Union doctoral candidates are eligible to apply for an additional doctoral scholarship (1500 PLN/month), offered by Poznan University of Technology.

A PhD student will realize research in the areas of: (1) developing novel and efficient models for analyzing and mining sequential data, (2) developing and assessing (theoretically and experimentally) the performance of data structures for processing sequential data, e.g., new types of indexes, (3) developing and assessing (theoretically and experimentally) the performance of algorithms for processing sequential data. All of the activities will lead to the development of a sequential data warehouse prototype system. It is intended to apply among others the following technologies: relational databases, NoSQL databases, distributed processing platforms, programming languages (e.g., SQL, Scala or Python or R or Java).

Requirements: (1) a bachelor and a master degree in computer science, (2) English level C1 in writing and speaking.

Application documents: (1) a bachelor diploma and transcript of records, (2) a master diploma and transcript of records, (3) CV (max. 2 pages), (4) application letter. The documents should be emailed to: robert.wrembel[at]cs.put.poznan.pl

Application deadline: 30 Sep, 2016.

The selection process will be based on an interview, scheduled on 03-07 Oct, 2016.
