Kakolewo Campus

In September of last year, the Poznan University of Technology Campus at Kakolewo was officially opened.. At the end of the year, the approval of construction works for the newly constructed research infrastructure and purchased equipment located on the campus was completed. This year we will witness the opening of further elements of this impressive investment.

A training hangar was built in addition to the infrastructure already existing and functioning on the Kakolewo campus as part of the Aerosfera project. The airport includes an aircraft hangar with R&D facilities, infrastructure for intelligent monitoring and management of the research space, which will be the entire airport. In addition, the following items were purchased: specialized robots, aircraft, ground vehicles of airport infrastructure, measuring devices, CNC machinery, IT infrastructure, augmented reality vision systems and flight trajectory analysis systems, sensor sets and a system for tracking and mapping the location of aircraft in space and dedicated software packages supporting processing and analysis of data from UAV flights. The last element of the Aerosphere project. The airport's main task was to provide lighting for the runway with access roads and a lighting system.

The Aerosfera project aims to create a model of organization, automated operation and operation of airports serving the future traffic of unmanned (UAV) and manned (ZSP) aircraft. R&D works are planned in three areas:

  • Operation of UAV/ZSP and R&D laboratory space,
  • Areas of application of BSP/ZSP,
  • Airport security and operation.
