Cooperation agreement between the Poznan County and the Poznan University of Technology

On 26th February 2024, the rector of the Poznan University of Technology - Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, and the Starosta of Poznan - Jan Grabkowski, signed an agreement concerning broadly defined cooperation.

The common goal is to develop principles for strengthening the capacity to ensure the safety of residents and to establish cooperation between public institutions and citizens, as well as to support the activities of the local community.

An extremely important component of the signed agreement is cooperation in research and development activities, as well as education, modelling, and improving efficiency to strengthen the capacity of local communities to respond to crises.

This scope aligns perfectly with the project funded by the NATO SPS program "Strengthening the capacity of local communities to respond to crises," under the leadership of Dr. Oksana Erdeli (Poznań University of Technology - project leader) and Prof. Serhiia Voitko (Kyiv Polytechnic Institute - project partner). The project executors are Poznan University of Technology together with Poznan County, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Bucha District Council (Ukraine). The project consists of broad research and analytical activities, the implementation of specialised training for representatives of authorities, local communities, and academia, focusing on a target group of 300 individuals, and the construction of the Community Crisis Capability Model (MACC).

The conclusions and recommendations developed within the project will be directed to decision-makers at both national and international levels, offering new perspectives on effective crisis management that can be adopted in various geographical and social contexts.

The project "Strengthening the capacity of local communities to respond to crises" is an ambitious endeavour that advocates for a holistic approach to crisis management, combining theory with practice and aiming to build more resilient, integrated communities capable of effectively responding to the challenges of the contemporary world.
